2026 — Garages of Bessemer

These images, which are really just documents, are in response to a comment I saw on Facebook, edited for clarity, brevity, and privacy:

"I was born and raised in Pueblo, grew up in the Bessemer area close to the Steel Mill. The Mill was booming during my childhood. The block I grew up in was absolutely beautiful, homes were modest but each home was clean, painted, yards were plush with lawns, and flower beds. Neighbors were friendly, helpful and decent. Children respected their parents and teachers, nuns and priests. Pueblo is nothing like that now, the block I grew up in is horrible, I can't stand to look at it now, its extremely run down, almost no lawns or flowers… No one seems to have standards anymore. Pueblo was once very safe. It has become dangerous. I agree with the folks who posted "Bessemer is ghetto now filled with wannabe gangsters". Its (sic) heart breaking."

If it can be said that garages are a barometer for the health of a neighborhood, then I’m submitting these as evidence that the person is relying on fear-based information. And that my neighborhood isn’t a “ghetto filled with wannabe gangsters”. It isn’t perfect, but even the street and block mentioned (which I’ve edited out for privacy’s sake) doesn’t remotely fit the description in this person’s comment.
